Secret Ingredient

“Why is it when some people bake a cake tastes spectacular. No matter how hard you try with the same recipe its just never as good?”

I wrote this story in answer to the following prompts:
Friday Fictioneers – Write a 100-word story based on the Photo Prompt image by Jennifer Pendergast
Word of the Day Challenge – Crumbs

Secret Ingredient

The air was filled with the scent of ginger and nutmeg whenever Jennifer was baking.

She’d cook and sell more than a few crumbs of cake. However, the gingerbread people were her delectable speciality.

When asked how she made them light and flavourful; she’d always answer, “That’s a secret ingredient for another day.”

Young Timmy loved those gingerbread people. He had to know the secret so he could bake them too.

Creeping to the bakery one morning, he discovered the unbelievable truth. Fresh from the oven; the gingerbread family were dancing in their tray.

The secret ingredient was magic!
