Calm Before the Storm

“The word Halcyon refers to a time in the past that was idyllic, calm and happy. My Halcyon was the days spent in Holly’s world. the time we’d spend writing her mysteries together was blissful for me. When life Yins into halcyon it will surely Yang in darker times. Times where we must fight to survive. While I failed, I send you, my fellow writers, this message to keep on battling and never give up.”

By the way: the bird in the picture is also a Halcyon Tree Kingfisher.

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
Pensitivity’s three things challenge – Hot – Board – Hard
FOWC with Fandango — Staunch
Your Daily Word — Enthusiastic
Word of the Day Challenge — Halcyon

Calm Before the Storm

We all have a serene halcyon in time
A moment where life’s at its prime
Where everything’s great
But then we’re all governed by fate

Hard and soft, hot and cold
Your journey’s already been told
I know you’ll be staunch and strong
Enthusiastic – I hope I’m not wrong

The writings on the board
Stand and fight, die by the sword
Your work ethic gives great pause
Battle hard, you’ll win those wars

Thanks for reading my friends. There’s more in the Poetry CornerShort Stories. and Short Stories 2 tabs.

Have a great day!
