Doing my Part

“Did you know; over a third of earths tree species are on the verge of extinction. So if your country had 90 tree species 30 of them will cease to exist soon if we don’t save them. We must urge our governments to pay garden centres to grow native trees. To pay farmers for land that can become new forests. More than that we must stop logging at all costs!”

I wrote this story in answer to the following prompts:
FOWC with Fandango  — Ingrate
Pensitivity’s Three Things Challenge — Poke – Tap – Press
Authorworld — Picture – Nature
Your Daily Word — Abstemious
Ragtag Daily Prompt — Décor

Doing my Part

Abstemious, I use just what I need
No ingrate, I never succumb to greed
I’ll never take more than I can use
That only creates extra refuse

I always turn off the tap
Press the off button when I nap
Poke in extra layers to be warm
Instead of burning power like a thunderstorm

My décor is sparse
I refuse plastic and use glass
Help me save every animal and tree
Recycle everything you see

Thanks for reading my friends.

There’s more in the Poetry CornerPoetry Nook, and the Short Story Collection

Have a great day!

  1. We all try to do our part. I use re-usable bags when I go shopping and use my own water bottle when I can. I do think we recycled more in the seventies. When I think of all the glass bottles recycled unlike the plastic bottles we throw away without a thought.
