Train to Win

“In every aspect of life we need the strength and knowledge to overcome the odds. We must train our bodies, hone our minds and then fight the good fight. If you failed, you learned something. Now get up, train harder and win that battle!”

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
Pensitivity’s Three Things Challenge — Silent – Train – Under
Ragtag Daily Prompt — Opening

Train to Win

I’m silent as I train
Building muscle and brain
Working under duress and strain
Through every repetition I gain

If I’m to win the fight
I’ll need every ounce of might
With smarts like a snakebite
This will be my night

I raise my gloved fists
My opponent punches from the wrists
I catch him as he twists
The winner is the one who persists

The battle lasts many a round
Audience baying like a bloodhound
I feel a haymaker inbound
My ears begin to pound

Dazed from the clout
I vow to win this bout
Roaring forward I strikeout
My uppercut scores the knockout

I’m almost there. The competition ends on the 30th

My story ‘Oracle Train’ is leading in the final round of the Purple Wall Competition.
