The Biggest Evil

“People will say money isn’t everything. Try getting anywhere without it. See how desperate you become when you cant afford food or worse to top up your phone! Money is and will always be the biggest evil!”

I wrote this poem for the following prompt.

Pensitivity’s Three Things Challenge — Pound – Scrape – Buff

The Biggest Evil

Buff monopoly men of upheaval
One man see’s no evil
Another dares speak no evil
The third obliviously hears no evil

The biggest evil surrounds their suits
It supports their wealthy attributes
Without the evil they won’t exist
So, they make evil hand over fist

This evil preys on the sin of greed
Without it the skint cannot succeed
The evil creates many a thief
To drug dealers and swindlers its chief

The biggest evil is money
You might think that funny
Until forced to generate a pound
To eat is to scrape pennies from the ground

Although money doesn’t make pleasure
Without it there’s no food or leisure
We all need money to be a kingpin
That’s why it’s the evilest sin

Thanks for reading my friends.

  1. Money is indeed the route of all evil. Those who have it want to bleed those who don’t . Poem is close to home Mason as I can remember digging around in the supermarket freezer for broken bags of veg at a discounted price, making a meal for 2 stretch to four, and a toss up between putting 50p in the gas meter for heat or in the TV box to keep the kids entertained. Those days (and the partner that went with it) are long gone now, but I haven’t forgotten and count my blessings, as well as the pennies, every day.
