The Convict’s Revenge

“Time for something different. I’ve created a thrilling tale with a twist. Read it to learn more.”

The Convict’s Revenge

Tomas pulled on a drooling smile while striding towards his trapped little quarry. She was his now.

She wasn’t hanging around long enough to be his victim. Sprinting toward the door She felt him hot on her heels.

The convict was salivating at the thought of catching the girl who had imprisoned him. He was going to make her pay and enjoy every minute of it.

Kelly was struggling to contain her panic now. Running out of the door she slammed it behind her.

Tomas kicked it open and smashed it against the wall. He lunged for the girl, missed and demolished a picture of Lord Donthorne on the wall.

Kelly squealed in fear, ducked beneath his meaty fists and made it into another room.

“Leave me alone!” she screamed.

The giant man ducked into the room like a demonic gorilla stalking his pray.

Retreating, Kelly’s back struck the white grand piano. She was in the entertaining room.

Tomas seized a red electric guitar and swung for her head.

Kelly threw up her hands and dropped under the marauding guitar. Rolling away she heard a loud melodious clang.

Tomas had slammed the guitar on the keys.

Kelly ran through the chesterfield sofas in a desperate bid to escape. Pain flared in her back as the guitar found its mark pitching her to the floor.

Tomas had thrown the instrument and charged after her.

Kelly landed on her knees in pain. Tears of fear and pain ran down her face as she rolled over and kicked the giant in the groin.

He grunted and made to grab her but she wasn’t going easy.

She stamped upon his foot and dived between his tree trunk legs as he writhed in pain. Regaining her feet, she sprinted to and through the conservatory doors.

The weather had turned for the worst outside. It rained so hard it was deafening in the conservatory. What a choice, get soaked through and suffer potential hypothermia or be torn apart by Tomas.

Kelly hadn’t got far before the big man threw open the conservatory door and stalked in.

She backed away until she was at the east window wall. There she grabbed a beaver tail cactus and hurled it right at the mercenary.

He never realised what it was until he caught it; impaling both his palms with dozens of needle-like thorns.

Kelly seized cactus after cactus and threw them at him. Hitting his head, body and hairy arms with the lethal plants. Then she was out of the door leaving him with the thorns.

The rain was freezing cold like a shower in the arctic. The poor girl was soaked through and practically blind in seconds under the deluge. Fear had her in full flight mode now.

Sobbing and struggling for breath she didn’t even realise Tomas had stopped chasing her. All she wanted was to reach the garden and hide but running in the rain was fraught with danger.

Kelly’s feet lost grip at the side of the natural swimming pool. Her feet shot forward on the slick surface. She was flailing completely out of control and then she was screaming as she shot over backwards. It happened in slow motion. She felt the back of her head hit the concrete. The water seeped into her shoe’s and then she was underwater.

‘Oh no! I’m in the swimming pool!’ Kelly thought as the rain turned the surface of the pool to a maelstrom of frothing water above her.

The sensation of fear was immeasurable for the stricken girl. Her arms and legs wouldn’t allow her to swim. They just wouldn’t function. they were letting her drown! Her own body was letting Tomas win his evil game.

With no air left in her body, Kelly suddenly saw everything as strange shades of purple. Her stomach began twisting and turning as her lungs burned for air.

She began to take on water as she tried to scream but all was deathly silent. Her lungs burned with the water and lack of oxygen. There she was drowning all alone in the pool of Crome Hall.

Images of her family flashed before her eyes. Her body convulsed and she fell still.

Gunshots tore through the storm.

It was then he came through the rain storm. Diving into the pool like a gannet with a hunger not for fish but for Kelly.

Hitting the bottom in two strokes, he saw Kelly hanging lifeless in the water. Her dress was floating about her like an angel’s gown. Even in that deathly state of repose she seemed serenely beautiful.

He wrapped an arm around her waist while praying she’d live. With a monumental effort he kicked off the bottom and hauled the lifeless girl to the surface.

For half a second, he sucked in lungful’s of air and rain water while holding her above the churning surface. With powerful kicking strokes, he reached the side. Choking in the rain, he roared himself into action and lifting, rolling Kelly lifelessly onto the concrete by the waterfall.

“Breath Kelly please be alive for me.” he cried while hauling himself up alongside her.

Looking into her soft, grey features, he saw no life in her beautiful emerald eyes, felt no soul within her. “No don’t die!” he yelled in absolute anguish.

With tears pouring from his eyes and the rain pounding the floor all around him, he began chest compressions. He would stop only to give her some life giving breaths.

On and on he went never stopping for the rain. Never waning in his efforts to revive her. He would never give up on her while he himself still breathed.

“No Kelly don’t die. Please don’t go to heaven like this. I still have so much love to give you. So, many nice things to treat you with!”

thirty chest compressions, two breaths, thirty chest compressions.

“No Kelly, please don’t do this! Please, oh no…” he screamed in total anguish. “Please you have to come back right now!”

      1. You didn’t ask me, but i think it would be good if Tomas came out and the two men tussled, and Kelly came back long enough to surprisingly kill the bad guy, then collapses dead. There was no hint of life before this, but as soon as Tomas started overpowering the unnamed man, Kelly just rose up behind him and then … I dunno, snapped his neck or something and then went down with him. Maybe I’m in a dark mood tonight….🤷‍♀️

      2. Wow! That would be a very strong way to take this to a fantastic story rather than a boring one.

I must say there is about another 94000 words to this story. I just recanted one small section of it.

      3. Oh, I was just going based off what I read. And my answer was just based on that. And it wasn’t boring. It was just that you asked how the person would end what was on the page at the time (the full story was not available based on what I read), and I just thought that would be a good ending for that short story that I read.

      4. I forgot I asked the question in that one. Sorry about that.

You wouldn’t believe whats in the rest of the book to get to this point. It’s the favourite of all I wrote.

      5. I forget things like that too.

I don’t know, but i can imagine a little bit. Kelly had Tomas put into jail or something and he was getting his revenge on her because she was one of, or the only eye-witness that caused his conviction. Or, she was the Prosecutor or a poor defense attorney. Maybe even the judge. But someone the giant Tomas blamed for his conviction. He may or may not have already taken revenge on others he blamed – which would be why her boyfriend or whoever he was showed up when he did. It wasn’t by pure chance… he found that this Tomas was taking his revenge and Kelly had something to do with him going to jail so he went to Kelly to tell her and found her face down and bleeding at the bottom of the pool.

I dunno, but it def triggered my imagination as you can tell! Thank you!

      6. I write so many posts I forget whats in half of them lol.

Here’s the first secret Kelly is in fact Holly. Tomas is a henchman for a very dangerous and disgraced Magician after a victorian treasure.

      7. No…I love it! You triggered my imagination and then there was a twist I didn’t forsee. That’s actually surprisingly and depressingly rare. Once my imagination is triggered, usually I’m right or my idea was more creative. With you it wasn’t up to task, and that’s amazing!

      8. So do I. And the episode of Doc Who you watched was Matt Smith and Clara. That was during Moffett’s time on the show. He’s the one who would trigger my brain to fire on all cylinders all the time. I think you would enjoy his time as show runner. The problem was the next doctor he dropped the ball on in favor of Clara (who I didn’t like to start with) and it was a wasted few seasons before he left. But during Matt Smith’s time, he was insanely good

      9. No… the Doctor was Peter Capaldi. He was a PHENOMINAL doctor. The problem was Clara – the brunette from the episode you just watched. Her story arc ended like 12 times but she just kept coming back. Suddenly, Doctor Who was literally about Clara having a job and a boyfriend, and her having a Christmas dinner with her family, and all sorts of nonsense. The Doctor only showed up to be the Doctor. It was stupid, they had an amazing actor with a great sub-plot that could have been explored but they wasted a ton of time (TWO SEASONS OF THIS MAN’S THREE SEASONS!) on her, which no one cared about. But at the time, she was dating Prince Harry, so I guess that may have had something to do with it. He’s always liked actresses apparently.

      10. It sort of did. Then they got him a new companion and she was AWESOME, but then the show runner decided he was done and well the actors didn’t want to go to a new show runner (one that wanted to redo the whole show anyway and have the first female doctor). But with Matt Smith the chemistry (and the character of Clara) worked, So if you tell me what you’re looking for I can direct you to a new episode. May be a different doctor, but I’m usually pretty good at pegging an episode to fit what you want. Like there’s a few more almost paranormal ones, but they’re more hinting at paranormal than ghost kind of ones. There’s really timey-wimey ones (it’s from a quote from the show that time is not linear but more of a timey wimey wibbly wobbly thing). If you’re interested, lemme know.

      11. I knew you were gonna say ghosts. There’s not many with ghosts. There’s one I remember – with Peter Capaldi but I can’t rememver if it was ghosts or not.

What about something overtaking a person – like a haunting of a person? Does that count?

      12. Yeah, that counts.
I have to apologise for being in and out. My left hand is cramping up with tendonitis. long runnign issue that started in 2009 – continued with neck surgery in 2012 and is now slowly worsening again. It’ll stop me writing completely fairly soon I think.

      13. I’m really sorry to hear that. Isn’t there anything you can do – soaking it or something – which can ward off the worst of it for a while?

It’s ok. you disappeared which got me look at the clock – it aw 5:30 am. I went to bed.

      14. I do that now. But for every 20 words I say i still have to type 8 to fix them and then type to edit so it doesn;t save my hands at all.

One day soon I have to completely walk away and stop typing permanently to save paraylsis.

      15. There are commands on the computer so that you can be almost completely hands-free if you learn them. you may be able to cut back on the typing for corrections and editing. Or maybe there’s a different type of keyboard? I saw one many years ago that looked like a ball and you just held it in your hands and you could type. It looked like there wsa a learning curve, but apparently it was great for avoiding too much stress on your hands

      16. You’re welcome. I’m sure at least one will be what you’re looking for. If the strain is typing, there’s many that have super soft touches so that you won’t have to hit the keys nearly as hard – I think on of the full split keyboards has a special fiber or something in the keys to make it touch typing insted of actual like push the button typing. And you can position it however outs less straign on your arm/hand

      17. I hope so too. But if it doesn’t (or at least in the meanwhile), try to use your voice to text. If there are errors, try to re-speak that part rather than type it. If parts of the voice-to-text need to be trained, train it. I know there was a program a long time ago (Dragon Dictate) that once trained could control the whole computer and it was really accurate. You just had to remember the commands. That was the hard part.

      18. Hello, Marla.
It is Dragon I use. I train it every day but it doesn’t learn it prefers just to guess everything and so gets it wrong.
I have a new keyboard coming. Hopefully between Dragon and that I’ll be able to work again soon.

      19. Actually, i found that with Dragon, if after training it it’s not learning its due to several user end issues. 1) too much background noise that you don’t even realize, 2) a poor microphone, 3) when training it, you’re speaking slowly and over-enunciating so that when it’s time for it to take dictation, it has no idea what you are saying.

I did all three of these. I learned to just talk normal and to mess up how I pronounce them so that I say it like *I* normally say it. Also, there are commands that allow you to train specific words that it always messes up. That may help too.

      20. Also you said that people being over taken count. Look into David Tennant’s “Water On Mars”. Then check out the episode “The Unquiet Dead” with Christopher Eccleston. That will give you sampling of the first 4 doctors of “New Who” (nicknamed since it’s return in 2005) across the first 2 show-runners. All stand alone episodes. All about haunting, possession and ghosts.

      1. Thanks, Sadje,.
This story is actually a scene from a novel sized book I wrote thats languishing in the drawer. The drowning lady image reminded me of the scene and so I decided to rewrite that bit for it.
The story is called ‘The Magician’s Folly’ I hope you get to read it one day.

      1. You are most welcome 😊 Like I said, I would love it if this mysterious rescuer is able to save her and apprehend Tomas before it’s too late. As to his identity, he could be her partner on the job who didn’t realise his feelings for her until it was (almost!) too late! That’s just me. I would love to see how you let the story play out
