Bright Light

“The Demon lives inside us all. It feeds on the negativity heaped upon us by world events. It festers on the people who put us down and ruin our dreams. The Demon’s goal is to extinguish our light and crush our spirit. It cannot win if the light stays bright. So, long as we keep going. So, long as we fight. So, long as we dare to dream that light stays bright and the demon is forced into the shadows. Keep fighting my friends!”

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
FOWC with Fandango  — Inadequate
Pensitivity’s Three Things Challenge — Why – Cry – Sly
Your Daily Word — While
Ragtag Daily Prompt — Nemesis

Bright Light

My nemesis is me
I’m weakened by my mentality
My demon’s dark while free
I’m not inadequate you’ll see

The demon is sly
It works hard to make me cry
Forces me to wonder why
Sometimes I can’t even try

It’s time for the demon to cower
I’ll defeat it with words of power
My friends brighten my tower
Now, I stand a tall, light flower

Thanks for reading my friends.
