Lost for Words

“Hello my friends. Most of you will have realised I’ve stopped posting stories and poems. My creative energy has gone walkabouts. Although I look at the prompts every morning I have no inspiration or desire to write at the moment. At this point I don’t know for how long or if I’ll write more tales anytime soon. Just know I’m okay and will hopefully return at some point. Until then I forced these words into a post to apologise for being gone.”

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie– Photo challenge — The picture above by –  Francesco Ungaro
FOWC with Fandango  — Juncture
Pensitivity’s Three Things Challenge — Trial – Trend – Item
Your Daily Word — Lade

Lost for Words

I’m at a new Juncture
My words have a puncture
Although my mind be lade with tales
My creativity and desire curtails

My inspiration is on trial
Off trend and lost in exile
It seems I’ve lost my spark
An item to bring light from dark

The prompts fail to inspire
So, I have no posts to admire
Then I see this bendy green guy
What the hell? My words say goodbye

So, I guess brains taking a break
This poem is for apologies sake
Please keep your smile
I hope to be back in a while.

Thanks for reading my friends.

  1. This seems to be a common theme these days amongst the bloggers that I follow. I went through the same thing at the beginning of the year and looking at my spotty posting for the first few months. I am glad to say that it passed eventually. Just wave and say hello til you get your groove back. Have a good day 🙂

    1. Hello, Jay-lyn.

Thank you for your kind message. I think as creators we all need breaks at times. Either we take them willingly or brain switches off and forces you to have a break. I have no doubt I’ll get going again soon.

      Have a great day!

  2. I’ve missed you, Mason, so thank you for the poem of explanation. Your stories and poems are truly valuable gifts that I appreciate and am affected by in so many ways. The stones you throw ripple in myriad ways that are impossible to fully measure. So please receive my gratitude, appreciation and many blessings in the same generous spirit with which you gift your marvelous stories to us, your lucky readers!

  3. I’ve missed your posts. Don’t worry, Mason. Everyone needs a break from time to time. There’s no need for apologising. Enjoy your break and come back refreshed. I’m sure you’ll be back in no time 🙂

      1. I agree with that. To fight them or to try and force through them only makes us feel worse. We have to breathe and let them out at their own pace and return to happy when ready.

  4. Mason, your output has been prodigious! It’s not unusual that a bit of a recharge is needed. When something like this happens to me I read some trashy sci fi for a while, and listen to music. Take a metaphorically deep breath, and relax…it’ll all come flowing back like a spring tide.

    1. Good Morning, Lou.

No kidding 124 stories this year is enough to deserve a mental break. I’m enjoying some Eurpean championship football and recharging for a while.

Thank you for your kind comments, Lou.

  5. Sometimes muses do go out for coffee and get lost on the way back home. Mine regularly wanders off — usually to one of those high end spas in Patagonia. Giving the blogging brain a rest for a while isn’t a bad idea. Hope you get recharged and your football team does well.
