Knowing You

“One of the biggest keys to finding your smile is knowing you. Being mindful of how you feel is so important. Knowing what triggers your anxiety, depression, anger and so forth is a great tool to have. If you know a certain situation will bring about unhealthy moods and thoughts you can either avoid that situation or teach and prepare yourself to deal with it. Thus you will find ways to keep thrive in a places where you’d normally struggle. Get to know yourself and beat that darkness away – you can do it!”

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:

Knowing You

Be mindful of how you feel
Just knowing can help you deal
A good mood is ideal
Sometimes you just need to squeal

Nobody has a pristine mind
Through foibles we are defined
When your mood becomes unkind
Take a breather and unwind

We all suffer dark days
Times when our demon plays
So, we must take little holidays
Then comeback in a positive blaze

Be positive and kind to you
You’re fine and have value
Fight out of the festering mental stew
Smile and you will win through
