“‘Keep going!’ they say. Why is it that most people who say that are succeeding all the time? They can’t see the spectral bricks building the wall around you. They can’t even begin to notice all the reasons why you can’t succeed building that wall higher and higher. Nobody can understand why each failure adds a new guard to the wall locking you firmly away. The wall isn’t real but its strong. It protects you from falling again buy stopping you dead with its forcefield of negativity. The only way out. The only way to success is by removing it brick by brick and taking those risks again. You can do this!”
I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
FOWC with Fandango — Wily
Pensitivity’s Three Things Challenge — Jolly – Repeat – Silly
Wall of Failure
Repeat: I will not fail
It’s not on the scale
Even if you work to no avail
You tried and so didn’t fail
To keeping trying is jolly hard
Every bad attempt leaves you scarred
Even the wily become marred
It’s silly but you put up a guard
I live behind a mental wall
Its darkness is my thrall
In here I’m insignificant and small
At least I can’t take another fall
Within the wall I slowly drown
It’s time to leave this failures town
Brick by brick I’ll tear the wall down
From the shadows I’ll take my crown
The Purple Wall Competition is over.
The result is undetermined. My votes were frozen Friday night. A number of people appear to have tried to defraud the system in order to try and make me win. They ultimately cost me a lot of votes and ruined the competition. The organisers are now having to go through all the votes to determine which are valid. A winner will be determined in the days to follow.
Although I have almost certainly lost; I am pleased to have made it to the final and wish to thank all those who supported me.
Thanks for reading my friends.
