“So many relationships, be it loving, marital, friendly, or even business relationships fail for one reason. The partners don’t say how they really feel and discuss solutions with each other. Its a two side thing. Firstly everybody needs to feel free and able to express their feelings, ideas and issues. The other side is that everybody must respect each other and listen when spoken too. To act upon and respect what’s being said. Do this and happiness is sure to blossom and stay with you for a long while.”
I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
FOWC with Fandango — Berserk
Your Daily Word — Laurels
Pensitivity’s Three Things Challenge — Hate – Leaves – Habit
Talk it Out
Laurel’s hubby went berserk
He was nice but now he’s a jerk
He doesn’t care by his smirk
Yes, he’s become hard work
It wasn’t Laurel’s way to hate
Hubby used to be her best mate
His habit of disrespect wasn’t great
Maybe a chat would set him straight
Laurel waited a little while
Called him to the table with a smile
She put his behaviour on trial
He apologised with a smile
She lets him go with a groan
He leaves without a moan
Soon he gives her a sparkling gemstone
He wouldn’t have hurt her if he’d known
You see this is the power of talk
It’s good to have a little squawk
To sort issues on a healing walk
You can fix a lot if you just talk
Thanks for reading my friends.

It’s always better to talk it out. Communication is key in any relationship. Great take on all those prompts, Mason

Ain’t that the truth! Exactly the theme of my own post today. Thanks, Mason, for putting such a positive message out here.

It’s a relief that Laurel’s husband was receptive. Unfortunately, conversations such as you describe don’t always go well.

Sadly so.
Too often it can transcend into violent argument. At these times the parties need to split and calm down. Then find a mediator and try again I think.
