Guess Again

“One of the biggest flaws I gained through my disastrous journey through publishing was doubt. Every day, I find myself second guessing everything. This is why you’ll find more errors in my stories than in anyone else’s. While I’m terrible at editing anyway, I have to do it quick. If I take time I’ll second guess everything, decide my work is terrible and bin the lot. It comes from so many voices, publishers, editors, betas, readers telling me so much is wrong with my stories over those horrendous years. I still hear each one clearly, strongly no matter how many tell me I’m writing well these days. Thank you all for your positivity, it really is healing albeit slowly.”

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
FOWC with Fandango  — Uncanny
Your Daily Word — Issue
Ragtag Daily Prompt — Swing

Guess Again

As I swing from yes to no
It’s uncanny to go with the flow
The issue is I have know
Why it’s wrong or right to go

I overthink everything you see
Rethink twice and then make tea
I sink into pits of negativity
When in sync, I want to be free

Second guessing is my downfall
It’s messing with my special call
Repressing dreams and causing withdrawal
Addressing with positivity beats it all

    1. Seems you’ve had issues with editors too.

It frustrates me so much that you ask an editor just to fix the punctuation and grammar and the story comes back with great chunks missing and other bits rewritten. Needing to make a lot of money to do anything means I can’t enforce what I want thats the trouble.

    1. Hello, Hetty

      You’re right it sure does.
I think I’ll always hurt unless I beat it with some success. I’m a lot better but at times I go right back again.

Thanks for reading and messaging. Have a wonderful Sunday!
