Distant Dreams

“As I battle through waves of negativity and give life to more and more positivity, I hear whispers of what I aspired to do. I feel Holly looking over my shoulder again, wondering if there’s a chance. Yet I know, that light is unlikely to be reignited. The dream is but a memory and I’m reborn positive in writing short stories for fun. That’s all I must do to allow myself to keep creating and to keep the darkness at bay.”

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie– Photo challenge — The picture above by  – Veerendra on Pexels.com
FOWC with Fandango  — Tirade
Pensitivity’s Three Things Challenge — Memory – Passed – Thought

Distant Dreams

Standing. Staring at the dusky sky
Waiting for a magical star to catch my eye
My dreams passed into memory
Imprisoned lost in silent reverie

Special thoughts I couldn’t forget
Times passing into silhouette
As the darkness comes
I hear the beat of battle drums

I’ll conquer my internal tirade
Despite how far I drifted and strayed
As I stand in the growing night
Know I love you. I won’t give up the fight

      1. Yeah, I reckon you’re right. I’m under no illusion that anything I write is for fun, and what’s more, for my fun because I enjoy iy rather than the reader’s. If they also enjoy it, all well and good.
