Free Your Mind

“Would you believe I first tried to publish Holly’s mysteries in 2017. My reward, huge debt, unsellable stories and whole heap of pain and negativity. Amid it all, I’ve grown a lot. My writing, my stories are exciting and you my friends make me feel good about them every day. While what went before may prevent Holly ever getting into the world as I envisioned – it’s time to break free. I’m starting to let go of all that went wrong and trying to embrace a new future. A place where I’m enjoying writing and creating smiles with my words. Free your mind with me and lets live in a world of possibility and positivity!”

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie – Opposing Forces — Imprison – free | Break – Mend
FOWC with Fandango — Complacent
Your Daily Word Prompt — Protean

Free Your Mind

I have a protean mind
Ever changing and shifting
Variable and undefined
Resourceful and yet drifting

You imprison me, I’ll break free
Break my heart, I’ll mend my soul
You’re complacent with the key
Door unlocked, I’m in control

Betrayal stunted my creativity
Made me say goodbye
I march with new motivity
Limited only by the sky

Thanks for reading my friends.

  1. I see similarities to what happened when I published my first book in 2007. I ended up badly discouraged, betrayed by people who claimed they were my “biggest fans.” I gave up writing for a while.
I’m trying not to rely on approval from others this time. It’s still been a long, arduous road.

    1. Hello, Cara.
I’m sorry you got hurt too. You’re right too. We cannot write for anyone but ourselves. if we find some people who like our words thats a bonus. But we have to do this for ourselves. I hope you make it too success this time!
