Wordsmith or Not

“A wordsmith is categorised as someone who is good with words. Follow that down though and you’ll see those it pertains too. Authors, Composers, Journalist, Newspaper Editors, Newsreaders, Critics, Chroniclers, Scribes. So, by definition a Wordsmith is someone who profiteers from writing right?

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
FOWC with Fandango — Wordsmith
Your Daily Word — Edify

Wordsmith or Not?

I’m a writer, am I wordsmith?
I’m good with words forthwith
I can tell an okay tale
Yet my story won’t make a sale

A wordsmith is good with words
Like a twitcher is good with birds
A locksmith with locks
Or a shepherd with his flocks

The wordsmith is a journalist or scribe
A newsperson with words to imbibe
Commentator, comedian or critic
Maybe, I’m being too analytic

A writer practices daily to edify
Their every piece a battle cry
My words, the iron of a blacksmith
Composed, proving I am a wordsmith

Thanks for reading my friends.
