Butterfly: Jewel of the Sky

“Butterflies are the most magical of insects. There are around 24000 different species worldwide. Everyone is a canvas of colour, majesty and beauty. Today, I’ll share some butterflies I captured around the Norfolk countryside and a poem too – enjoy!”

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:
Your Daily Word — Orotund
Ragtag Daily Prompt — Butterfly

Butterfly: Jewel of the Sky

Beginning life as a caterpillar
Under leaves, life a thriller
The magic begins with a cocoon
Transforming in a magical festoon
Emerging in a gala of colour
Remarkably bright or a little duller
Fly butterfly: the orotund jewel of the sky
Land on flowers, pollinate, catch the eye
You’re beautiful butterfly
