The Greatest Show-bird

“The great thing about poetry is it can be about anything at all. This one is about the show off in the picture. I hope you like it!”

I wrote this story in answer to the following prompts:
Your Daily Word — Stalwart
Word of the Day Challenge — Theme
Ragtag Daily Word — Brevity

The Greatest Show-bird

Brevity is not my greatest skill
I yap and chat, my voice is shrill
Whatever the theme, I love to talk
Give me a cracker or I’ll squawk

I’m a stalwart in the pet shop
People love my bright feathery crop
My home is the South American jungle
So, this cage is a bit of a bungle

I’m not talking I’m good at mimicry
Although the swearing is all gimmickry
What am I – apart from a bore?
I’m a blue-and-yellow macaw

Thanks for reading my friends. There’s more in the Poetry CornerShort Stories. and Short Stories 2 tabs.

Have a great day!
