Disassociated Life

“Have you ever been in a group and team a situation where you just feel like you don’t belong. You’re on the outside looking in. A kitten trying to co-exist with dogs that don’t even see you. I’ve felt that in everything I’ve ever done apart from one thing. Thanks to you my wonderful WordPress friends, this place is somewhere I feel I belong.”

Dissassociated Life

I’m a shadow in the background
I never fitted in the foreground
Trying to belong causes double trouble
So, I hide in my dark little bubble

I try to be anodyne in my way
Kind, courteous, friendly in what I say
Yet I get the rebuff, the cold shoulder too
That’s why I’m not gathering with you

I sway in darkness, watch you succeed
While I fail, though working until I bleed
The symbol, profile, style of nonexistence
I survive through indissoluble resistance

A month of records say I’m here
I hope something I do will endear
Sudden sound— dreams falling like dominoes
Don’t flinch it’s just me in the shadows
