Towering Love

“I feel I’ll live a life without love. Sometimes, an image just makes me wonder what if … Then I write something like this. Can you imagine getting a poem like this? No wonder I’m loveless!”

This poem is for the above picture Photo by Aleksandar Pasaric on Pexels.com and in answer to the following prompts:

Your Daily Word Prompt — Affect
Ragtag Daily Prompt — Cabbage

Towering Love

Swirling fog, thick as cabbage stew
smoky propensity blocking the view
The highest skyscrapers reach above
No smog can hide you, my love

Behind the windows of our towers
You affect me with your powers
A road and a hundred feet between
I can’t hug you, hold you across a ravine

When we’re apart my heart is slowed
Though you’re only there across the road
As our working day comes to an end
I’ll descend to find you, girlfriend

For now, the fog is blocking our sight
The weather can do all it might
But it cannot block your loving affection
I hope I cast the same with my reflection

In separate skyscrapers, we work
I’m an accountant and you’re a clerk
Then we meet and hug at shifts end
Being Friday, I’ll love you all weekend.

Thanks for reading my friends. There’s more in the Poetry CornerShort Stories. and Short Stories 2 tabs.

Have a great day!
