“Come summer, winter, autumn or spring there’s always something wrong with the weather, isn’t there? No? Must be just us Brits with looking for an excuse to moan! What’s your favourite weather and why – answer in the comments.“
I wrote this poem for the following prompts:
Pensitivity’s Three Things Challenge # 474 — Want – Early – Outlook
Word of the day Challenge — Warning
Weather Grumble
The early bird catches bleedin’ frostbite!
At least if it’s as cold as this morning
Everything was frosted pure white
Oh well, the weatherman did give warning
He said it would get too minus one
I say his thermometers’ full of shite
It was minus-flippin’-ten in the sun!
At least the week’s outlook is bright
Yes, it’ll be warmer and much drier
Hooray! We need a little less rain
the village roads are a flooded mire
The precipitation filled every soddin’ drain
You might think me a grumbling tosspot
However, I’m an Englishman by birth, you see
So, whether the weather is good or not
It’s traditional to complain whilst we drink tea
With the weather getting much nicer
I’ll want to walk along the beach
I’m still packing my bloody de-icer
Happy days! End of my weatherly speech
Thanks for reading, my friends, I really do appreciate it.
Don’t forget there’s always plenty more poems in Poetry Corner. And more stories for you in the Short Stories and Short Stories 2 tabs.
Have a great day!
Too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, we’re all moaners, it’s in our British blood! I went for a walk on a frosty Bexhill beach this morning. Too cold, too slippery, sun too bright …….

Haha, exactly right!
I’m in Norfolk, it was frosty white, freezing and bright. I still have a moan but Lucy dog and I enjoyed our walk all the same.
Thanks for visiting and reading, Keith.

Luckily we can walk along the beach every day as it’s only a 5 minute walk up the road. The contrasts from day to day at this time of year are amazing.

Aww, thats a wonderful treat living that close. I have to go 15 miles to find the beach. Not to far but far enough when government is waiting to fine you for breathing these days.
I do love the changing scenery as the year moves on. Its amazing especially in the woodlands and beaches.

We miss the woods and the half a dozen trees or so in the park here don’t count. Maggie used to love exploring.

I have woods at the end of my road. Lucy dog loves teasing the squirrels in there. Myself sitting in a tree with my notebooks and nature around me is magical.

We had several routes in the woods that would take us to quiet places. Maggie found a few of them for us.

It’s over 30 miles away now, but we had been back a few times, and Maggie hadn’t forgotten.
The forestry commission were thinning out the trees, and it was heartbreaking to see such devastation. There was no other way to describe it.

Makes me so mad and upset to see trees cut down. Earth need a ban on all logging to save it.
Dogs have far better memories than anyone thinks dont they.

Dogs do Mason. Maggie knew which pocket our postie had the ‘special biscuits’ in.

Aww, how lovely that he had biscuits for her. What a good man.
Big issue is Lucy remembers nearly dying at the vets. So she gets s ared as soon as we turn onto the road.

Our postie has biscuits for all the dogs, and we’d often buy a bag for him to replenish his pockets.
I had that kind of issue with one of my other dogs. Have you thought about changing your vet or is he really good and dog friendly?

Whqt a great man. Posties and deliverers often struggle with dogs. A few treats and a light happy attitude makes all the difference
We did try a different vet but mad no difference. This one is very patient with her and will wait allday for her to calm down if need be so its okay.

All of the dogs know about the biscuit pocket. There have been so many dogs pass away on our estate over the past year, and he has felt the loss of every one. He was gutted when we lost Maggie.
If you have found an understanding vet, that is great. We had a slight tilt with ours, but in the end they were marvellous.

I reckon that postie deserves an honour for his love for the dogs on his route.
Yeah, our vet is a good man. He understands why Lucy resorts to shaking and teeth when she arrives. We leave her with him and he lets her sit in the corner of his room while he works on other patients. Then when she comes to say hi, he’ll do part of the examination with her. If he needs to do more I’ll sometime give her a sedative for him and he’ll let her sleep while he works too. In the end she gets what she needs without major blood loss!

Good to know you have an understanding vet. My GSD was nervous to start with, but tracked some of it back to anyone wearing a white coat, so maybe a vet or butcher had hurt her. I explained to my vet so he took his coat off when he saw her, and she was fine. A vet who understands animals and puts them before making money always gets my vote.

Seems something about the white coat triggered a bad memory for sure.
I agree a good vet is a heartfelt one who genuinely cares for their patients and is willing to do all they can for them with worrying about the money side is the best one.
