I Am A Writer!

“Yesterday I told you Why I Write. Today I shout from the top of my lungs ‘I AM A WRITER!’ ha-hem – sorry about that. Willy Wonka famously sang ‘Come with me, and you’ll be, in a world of pure imagination‘ the same can be said of me. No matter what the doubters say. No matter what the haters do. No matter what the thieves steal from me. So, long as I have my imagination. I will tell a thousand fabulous tales and invite you join me on my adventures!

I wrote this poem in answer to the following prompts:

Your Daily Word Prompt — Energetic
Ragtag Daily Prompt— Stage
Word of the Day Challenge — Protection

I Am A Writer

I am a creative writer
Every fresh page is my stage
Wielding my pen like a mitre
My imagination will rampage

Discover my worlds of wonder
Real places and those of make-believe
My character’s love, loathe and plunder
The magic’s within the words I weave

Come into my literary world
I’ll give you warmth and protection
A smile as my story is unfurled
The characters, your friends, without rejection

Time to spin an energetic mystery
Make your heart thump during a fight
Then with a dash of exciting history
My princess will kiss her knight

I unleash monsters and the devil
Enchant you with fairies and elves
Atop mountains below sea level
My tales come alive on the shelves

You’ll be exhausted when my tale’s told
Your hair a mess, your shirt creased
Exhilarated as if you found pure gold
Good news, friends. New tale’s soon to be released

Thanks for reading my friends, I really do appreciate it.

Don’t forget there’s always plenty more poems in Poetry Corner. Stories await in the Short Stories and Short Stories 2 tabs too.

Have a great day!

    1. We sure do. The negativity brought upon us by those who choose to tear us down and beat us up for what we do, has no power unless we give it head space.

Thus we must rise above it and be free!

Thanks for reading my friend. Hope you’re having a great weekend.

    1. Aww, thank you so much. This is a war cry for me. If you read Why I Write connected to this one you’ll see fate has tried to destroy me through writing. It took away my dreams and almost my health. By now I’ve fought back again and can enjoy writing once more.
